# Pull Request
## Description
This PR fixes a UI issue where very long attachment filenames (sometimes
including parameters or hashes) would overflow or break the layout in
the message bubble. The fix applies Tailwind's truncate utility class to
ensure these filenames are properly truncated with ellipsis, preserving
layout consistency and improving readability.
Fixes#11514
## Type of change
- [x] Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
## How Has This Been Tested?
- Manually tested with attachment messages containing long filenames
(e.g., with hashes, query params, or excessive length).
- Verified that filenames are now truncated with ellipsis.

## Description
This PR fixes an issue where updating the icon for a category didn’t
work while editing. This happened because the edit dialog is wrapped in
a form, and the icon button (missing `type="button"`) triggered a form
submission instead of opening the icon picker.
**Solution:**
Set the icon button’s `type` to `"button"` to prevent unintended form
submission.

## Description
This PR introduces a `CustomTeleport` component that wraps Vue's
Teleport to preserve directionality context (ltr / rtl) when teleporting
content outside the app’s root container.
### Problem
Currently, the app sets the text direction (`[dir="ltr"]` or
`[dir="rtl"]`) on a container `div` inside `<body>`, not on `<body>`
itself. When content is teleported directly into `body`, it no longer
inherits the correct direction context. As a result, direction-aware
utility classes like `ltr:pl-2`, `rtl:ml-1`, etc., break because CSS
selectors like `[dir="ltr"] .ltr\:pl-2` no longer match. Identified this
issue when working on this
[PR](https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/11382)
### Solution
The `CustomTeleport` component automatically applies the correct `[dir]`
attribute (`ltr` or `rtl`) on the teleported content's wrapper based on
the current `isRTL` setting from the store. This ensures that
direction-specific Tailwind utility classes continue to work as
expected, even when the content is rendered outside the app root.

This PR fixes an issue where messages from the agent bot were incorrectly displayed as "BOT" with a missing avatar. It now correctly shows the agent bot’s name and avatar URL in the message list.
This PR does the following:
- Missing translations to the i18n file.
- Test the change with Malayalam (ml) translation.
- Fixes overflow by setting the width to 100%
_Note_: The prompt text is also set for translation. This is
intentional, there is no change in the behaviour.

This PR introduces basic minimum version of **Instagram Business
Login**, making Instagram inbox setup more straightforward by removing
the Facebook Page dependency. This update enhances user experience and
aligns with Meta’s recommended best practices.
Fixes
https://linear.app/chatwoot/issue/CW-3728/instagram-login-how-to-implement-the-changes
## Why Introduce Instagram as a Separate Inbox?
Currently, our Instagram integration requires linking an Instagram
account to a Facebook Page, making setup complex. To simplify this
process, Instagram now offers **Instagram Business Login**, which allows
users to authenticate directly with their Instagram credentials.
The **Instagram API with Instagram Login** enables businesses and
creators to send and receive messages without needing a Facebook Page
connection. While an Instagram Business or Creator account is still
required, this approach provides a more straightforward integration
process.
| **Existing Approach (Facebook Login for Business)** | **New Approach
(Instagram Business Login)** |
| --- | --- |
| Requires linking Instagram to a Facebook Page | No Facebook Page
required |
| Users log in via Facebook credentials | Users log in via Instagram
credentials |
| Configuration is more complex | Simpler setup |
Meta recommends using **Instagram Business Login** as the preferred
authentication method due to its easier configuration and improved
developer experience.
---
## Implementation Plan
The core messaging functionality is already in place, but the transition
to **Instagram Business Login** requires adjustments.
### Changes & Considerations
- **API Adjustments**: The Instagram API uses `graph.instagram`, whereas
Koala (our existing library) interacts with `graph.facebook`. We may
need to modify API calls accordingly.
- **Three Main Modules**:
1. **Instagram Business Login** – Handle authentication flow.
2. **Permissions & Features** – Ensure necessary API scopes are granted.
3. **Webhooks** – Enable real-time message retrieval.

---
## Instagram Login Flow
1. User clicks **"Create Inbox"** for Instagram.
2. App redirects to the [Instagram Authorization
URL](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-platform/instagram-api-with-instagram-login/business-login#embed-the-business-login-url).
3. After authentication, Instagram returns an authorization code.
5. The app exchanges the code for a **long-lived token** (valid for 60
days).
6. Tokens are refreshed periodically to maintain access.
7. Once completed, the app creates an inbox and redirects to the
Chatwoot dashboard.
---
## How to Test the Instagram Inbox
1. Create a new app on [Meta's Developer
Portal](https://developers.facebook.com/apps/).
2. Select **Business** as the app type and configure it.
3. Add the Instagram product and connect a business account.
4. Copy Instagram app ID and Instagram app secret
5. Add the Instagram app ID and Instagram app secret to your app config
via `{Chatwoot installation
url}/super_admin/app_config?config=instagram`
6. Configure Webhooks:
- Callback URL: `{your_chatwoot_url}/webhooks/instagram`
- Verify Token: `INSTAGRAM_VERIFY_TOKEN`
- Subscribe to `messages`, `messaging_seen`, and `message_reactions`
events.
7. Set up **Instagram Business Login**:
- Redirect URL: `{your_chatwoot_url}/instagram/callback`
8. Test inbox creation via the Chatwoot dashboard.
## Troubleshooting & Common Errors
### Insufficient Developer Role Error
- Ensure the Instagram user is added as a developer:
- **Meta Dashboard → App Roles → Roles → Add People → Enter Instagram
ID**
### API Access Deactivated
- Ensure the **Privacy Policy URL** is valid and correctly set.
### Invalid request: Request parameters are invalid: Invalid
redirect_uri
- Please configure the Frontend URL. The Frontend URL does not match the
authorization URL.
---
## To-Do List
- [x] Basic integration setup completed.
- [x] Enable sending messages via [Messaging
API](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-platform/instagram-api-with-instagram-login/messaging-api).
- [x] Implement automatic webhook subscriptions on inbox creation.
- [x] Handle **canceled authorization errors**.
- [x] Handle all the errors
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-platform/instagram-graph-api/reference/error-codes
- [x] Dynamically fetch **account IDs** instead of hardcoding them.
- [x] Prevent duplicate Instagram channel creation for the same account.
- [x] Use **Global Config** instead of environment variables.
- [x] Explore **Human Agent feature** for message handling.
- [x] Write and refine **test cases** for all scenarios.
- [x] Implement **token refresh mechanism** (tokens expire after 60
days).

Previously, viewing translations required opening a modal, which was a
frustrating experience. This update improves the UX by displaying
translations inline.

A sample message with translated content (which has an option to see the
original):

Right now, the translation is done based on the account locale. Some of
the future considerations.
- Add personal preference for the language (For eg: an agent can use the
software in spanish even though the company default is english), then
support translations based on personal preference.
- Add support for LLM translations (OpenAI integration)
- Add translations if Captain is enabled
- Add auto translation if the feature is turned on.
The string were not taking the correct locale as there were initialized
during the component mount. This change would force the component to
re-render the strings.

This PR allows Copilot to be used without connecting the Captain assistant to an inbox. Currently, if Captain is enabled on an account, it takes over conversations and responds directly to users. This PR enables the use of Captain as a Copilot without allowing it to respond to users. Additionally, it allows using a different assistant for Copilot instead of the default Captain assistant.
The selection logic for the Copilot assistant follows this order of preference:
- If the user has selected a specific assistant, it takes first preference for Copilot.
- If the above is not available, the assistant connected to the inbox takes preference.
- If neither of the above is available, the first assistant in the account takes preference.

## Description
Fixed an issue where hover styles were still applied to disabled
buttons. Previously, `disabled:pointer-events-none` was used to prevent
interactions, ensuring hover styles wouldn’t apply. However, this also
removed showing the "not-allowed" cursor. This has been replaced with
`hover:enabled` to ensure hover effects only apply when the button is
enabled while preserving proper cursor behavior.

This pull request includes multiple changes to the sidebar and route
metas to configure visibility of features on the dashboard.
Here's a summary of the changes
1. Added `installationTypes`, field to routes `meta`, this works along
side `permissions` and `featureFlags`
This allows us to decide weather a particular feature is accessible on a
particular type. For instance, the Billing pages should only be
available on Cloud
2. Updated `usePolicy` and `policy.vue` to use the new
`installationTypes` config
3. Updated Sidebar related components to remove `showOnlyOnCloud` to use
the new policy updates.

This PR introduces internal feature flags for testing purposes. These
flags will not be displayed on regular instances to prevent customer
confusion.
Additionally, a new feature flag, `contact_chatwoot_support_team`, has

third-party onboarded accounts, as support will be handled by the

Some emails contain HTML content within the text part, but our content
parser currently strips HTML automatically, which needs a proper fix. In
the new UI, the fallback for HTML content was set to the parsed content,
which may omit HTML tags, leading to issues like missing inline
attachments.
This PR updates the fallback mechanism to use the text content instead
of the parsed content, ensuring HTML elements are preserved.

This PR updates the sidebar to hide empty folders. So, in case the user
has not created any folders, or teams, the section in the sidebar will
be hidden
This PR updates the report pages for agents, inboxes, and teams by
replacing charts with aggregate values (under a feature flag). Users can
click on any item to view more details if needed. Most users seem to
prefer aggregate values, so this change will likely stay.
The PR also includes a few fixes:
- The summary reports now use the same logic for both the front-end and
CSV exports.
- Fixed an issue where a single quote was being added to values with
hyphens in CSV files. Now, ‘n/a’ is used when no value is available.
- Fixed a bug where the average value was calculated incorrectly when
multiple accounts were present.
These changes should make reports easier to use and more consistent.

## Description
Fixes https://linear.app/chatwoot/issue/CW-3913/issues-with-help-center
**Fixes included**
1. > The default locale that is selected should the portal default
locale.
Now, we update the last active locale in UI settings after changing the
selected locale from the article page header. This ensures that we see
the last active locale-based categories on the category page and
remember it when we return. Initially, it’s the default locale.
2. > I cannot switch to a different locale if there are no articles in
the portal
Now, the `v-if` condition that checked for the presence of articles in
portal has been removed. Additionally, the locale length checks for the
showing dropdown have been removed, allows locale switching even if
article is not preset.
3. > Create or updating the article is quite painful, see the video
Removed the `quickSave` and `saveAndSyncDebounced` usage for a newly
creating article.
4. > I cannot see the articles if I delete the English locale
(irrespective of what I choose as default locale)
Now, the last active locale in UI settings will automatically update to
the default locale when the last active locale is deleted.
5. > Set a new default locale other than `en` and delete the `en` locale
preset in the portal. Then, adding a new locale will automatically set
`en` as the default locale, even if the `en` locale not preset in the
portal.
Now, we pass default locale when we add a new locale.
6. Adds search for all dropdown menus
7. Update article count in realtime.

Currently, it’s unclear whether an FAQ item is generated from a
document, derived from a conversation, or added manually.
This PR resolves the issue by providing visibility into the source of
each FAQ. Users can now see whether an FAQ was generated or manually
added and, if applicable, by whom.
- Move the document_id to a polymorphic relation (documentable).
- Updated the APIs to accommodate the change.
- Update the service to add corresponding references.

Migration Guide: https://chwt.app/v4/migration
This PR imports all the work related to Captain into the EE codebase. Captain represents the AI-based features in Chatwoot and includes the following key components:
- Assistant: An assistant has a persona, the product it would be trained on. At the moment, the data at which it is trained is from websites. Future integrations on Notion documents, PDF etc. This PR enables connecting an assistant to an inbox. The assistant would run the conversation every time before transferring it to an agent.
- Copilot for Agents: When an agent is supporting a customer, we will be able to offer additional help to lookup some data or fetch information from integrations etc via copilot.
- Conversation FAQ generator: When a conversation is resolved, the Captain integration would identify questions which were not in the knowledge base.
- CRM memory: Learns from the conversations and identifies important information about the contact.

- Email bubble overflow issues and text rendering issues

This pull request includes several changes to the `DropdownItem.vue` and `SidebarProfileMenu.vue` components to improve the handling of links.
Earlier we passed the link `/super_admin` to RouterLink directly, which would trigger validations internally and the dropdown item would not render in case of any errors. This PR fixes this by handling the native links appropriately
Fixes#10571
This PR resolves the issue with updating the profile picture in the profile settings.
**Cause of issue**
The issue can be reproduced with the old `ProfileAvatar.vue` component.
While the exact reason is unclear, it seems related to cases where the
file might be `null`.
**Solution**
Replaced the old `ProfileAvatar.vue` with `Avatar.vue` and tested it. It
works fine. I’ve attached a loom video below.

This PR fixes a few UI issues with the sidebar
1. `z-index` issues with sidebar dropdowns
2. Move the event listener to the root of the dropdown container, it
allows more consistent behaviour of the trigger, earlier the click on
the trigger when the dropdown was open would cause the container to
re-render
3. Use `perserve-open` for the status switcher menu item in the profile
menu.
4. Use `sessionStorage` instead of `localStorage` to preserve sidebar
dropdown info. When opening the dashboard without directly going to a
specific route, any previous known item would get expanded even if it's
link was not active, this caused issues across tabs too, this fixes it.
5. Use `snakeCaseKeys` instead of `decamelize` we had two packages doing
the same thing
6. Update `vueuse` the new version is vue3 only
This PR adds three components along with stories
1. MultiSelect - This is used for filter values, allowing multiple values and folding of values where there are too many items
2. SingleSelect - This is used for filter values, allows selecting and toggling a single item
3. FilterSelect - This is used for operators and others, it allows icons and labels as well as toggling them using props. The v-model for this binds just the final value unlike the previous two components with bind the entire object.

### The problem
Writing in the text editor can be very frustrating, the reason is that
the editor had a debounced save method which would push the article to
the backend and update the current state. This however is a bad idea,
since the can take anywhere between 100-300ms depending on network
conditions.
While this would be in progress, the article is still being edited by
the user. So at the end of the network request, the state returned from
the backend and the current state in the editor is diverged. But since
the update happens anyway, the editor would prepend older context.
```
Time -->
User Action: [Edit 1] ---> [Edit 2] ---> [Edit 3]
Backend Save: Save Req (Edit 1) ----> Response (Edit 1)
Resulting Editor State: [Edit 3] + [Edit 1] (Outdated state prepended)
```
### The solution
The solution is to unbind the article from the backend state, ensuring
that the article editor is the source of truth and ignoring the
responses. This pull request does this by adding an asynchronous save
functionality. The changes include adding a new `saveArticleAsync` event
and ensuring that the local state is not updated unnecessarily during
asynchronous saves.
```
Time -->
User Action: [Edit 1] ---> [Edit 2] ---> [Edit 3]
Backend Save: Save Req (Edit 1) ----> Response (ignored)
Resulting Editor State: [Edit 3] (Consistent and up-to-date)
```
Added the following two debounced methods
These complementary debounce methods prevent unnecessary re-renders
while ensuring backend is in sync. `saveArticleAsync` preserves the
editor as the source of truth, while `saveArticle` manages periodic
state updates from the backend with a delay large enough to safely
assume that the user has stopped typing
Method | Delay | Behavior
-- | -- | --
`saveArticleAsync` | 400ms | Sends data to backend and ignores the
response
`saveArticle` | 2.5s | Sends data and updates local state with the
backend response
### How to test
1. Remove the following line
dc042f6ddc/app/javascript/dashboard/components-next/HelpCenter/Pages/ArticleEditorPage/ArticleEditor.vue (L64)
1. Update the latency here to 400 (P.S. the diff shows the latency to be
600, but that was added as a stop-gap solution)
dc042f6ddc/app/javascript/dashboard/components-next/HelpCenter/Pages/ArticleEditorPage/ArticleEditor.vue (L51)
1. Set the browser network latency to Slow 3G or 3G
1. Start writing on the editor, try fixing typos with backspace or
moving around with the cursor

This PR allows attributify for `variant`, `size` and `color` props. This allows using shorthands, instant of writing full props.
We also added a small computed method to ensure these does not show up
in the DOM and pollute it

This pull request introduces a new `ChannelIcon` component and refactors the existing code to use this component, which simplifies the icon management for different channel types and providers.
This PR updates the background used in dropdown to match our design system. Previous PR failed to add this correctly.

This PR adds dropdown primitives to help compose custom dropdowns across the app. The following the sample usage

The last item in the sidebar top level group has an indicator specified,
the problem in our case is that the structure can be nested and have sub
groups. So selecting the last item correctly can be tricky.
Previous implementation relied on the using DOM queries to find the last
item from a flat list of children, it would trigger on a `watch`. This
was error-prone as well as non idiomatic. The new approach is CSS-only
and reduces the unnecessary compute required.

Ensures users are seamlessly directed to the first available menu item upon opening a group, improving UX by reducing unnecessary clicks. This change enhances navigation flow within groups.

This PR has the initial version of the new sidebar targeted for the next major redesign of the app. This PR includes the following changes
- Components in the `layouts-next` and `base-next` directories in `dashboard/components`
- Two generic components `Avatar` and `Icon`
- `SidebarGroup` component to manage expandable sidebar groups with nested navigation items. This includes handling active states, transitions, and permissions.
- `SidebarGroupHeader` component to display the header of each navigation group with optional icons and active state indication.
- `SidebarGroupLeaf` component for individual navigation items within a group, supporting icons and active state.
- `SidebarGroupSeparator` component to visually separate nested navigation items. (They look a lot like header)
- `SidebarGroupEmptyLeaf` component to render empty state of any navigation groups.
